Camargue rice with PGI

Cultivated within the Camargue Regional Natural Park, complete long black Camargue rice offers high quality flavors and nutritional benefits.

The characteristics of complete long Camargue black rice

Black brown rice gets its dark and captivating appearance from its anthocyanins and the pigments they contain. Grown in a unique environment, whole black rice benefits from ideal conditions, combining rich soils and a Mediterranean climate, to offer a deep and distinctive hue.

From the first bite, the whole grain Camargue long black rice reveals a unique and subtle nutty, toasty and earthy flavor. Its grain, denser and richer in nutrients than ordinary varieties, offers a taste experience that will delight lovers of authentic textures and nuances.

Whole black rice and its benefits

Camargue black rice and benefits are inseparable, because it combines taste pleasure and health. Organic black rice stands out for its richness in group B vitamins, notably B6, which is ideal for good energy metabolism. Black brown rice also contains vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant, as well as essential minerals such as magnesium, iron and zinc. These nutrients are essential for maintaining good health, strengthening immunity and supporting the body's vital functions.

In addition, long black Camargue rice is particularly rich in fiber, which makes it ideal for promoting good digestion and regulating intestinal transit. The fibers present in this rice help prolong the feeling of satiety and stabilize blood sugar levels, thus preventing blood sugar spikes. Among the benefits of whole black rice, we also note its ability to regulate the level of bad cholesterol (LDL), thus strengthening cardiovascular health.

Finally, the dark color of organic Camargue black rice is due to the presence of anthocyanins, powerful antioxidants which help protect cells against oxidative stress, thus contributing to the prevention of diseases linked to aging and cardiovascular health. Whole black rice and benefits go hand in hand, as this unique grain is also known for its beneficial effects on the immune system and overall health.

How to cook black Camargue rice

To reveal all the richness of its aromas and texture, cooking brown brown rice requires special attention. Rinse it first in cold water to remove excess starch, then let it soak for a few hours for optimal cooking. Then, put a volume of whole black rice along with two volumes of water and cook it over low heat, until it absorbs all the liquid and becomes tender and fragrant.

For a softer grain of rice, avoid salting the water which would harden the grain.

Whether you are looking for a healthy and tasty option to accompany your favorite dishes or want to create innovative and refined dishes, Camargue long black rice offers endless culinary possibilities. Try it as an accompaniment to grilled fish dishes, incorporate it into fresh and colorful salads or use it as a base for exotic and spicy dishes inspired by Mediterranean cuisine.

Organic Camargue black rice from the Hériztage brand

Organic black rice has a long history, dating back centuries in Asian regions. According to Chinese tradition, virtues were attributed to it for the longevity of those who consumed it. Originally consumed in China, it was reserved for the emperor and his family, earning it the nickname “forbidden rice” or “emperor’s rice”. Later, it gained popularity in other countries like Italy, where it is known as Riso Venere.
