Camargue PGI rice is a Protected Geographical Indication product known for its exceptional quality and its strong connection to the unique terroir of Camargue. The Hériztage brand, developed by Provence Factoriz, offers a range of Camargue PGI rice, including different types of whole rice.
A trio of whole long-grain rice is a blend of grains in varying colors: brown, red, and black. The red rice, with its nutty flavors, and the black rice, with its slightly sweet and floral notes, perfectly complement the brown whole rice, which forms the base of this Camargue rice trio. This creates original compositions on the plate and surprising flavors in the mouth.
To create a balanced blend on the plate and harmonious to the taste, Provence Factoriz has chosen a base of Camargue PGI whole long-grain rice. These naturally brown grains, which have retained their bran, are rich in fiber and nutrients. Red rice and black rice, both whole, parboiled, and sourced from organic farming, are added to the mix, making the Camargue rice trio both reliable in cooking and pleasant in texture.
To prepare this Camargue rice trio: it’s very simple. Just pour the mix into a large volume of boiling salted water (1 volume of rice to 5 volumes of water) and cook covered for 25 minutes. The parboiling process ensures that each grain remains firm, distinct, and non-sticky, without becoming mushy.
Pilaf cooking of the blend is also perfectly feasible under normal conditions. That is: sauté the grains in a bit of oil until they become translucent. Then, add the water and cook until fully absorbed.
With a Camargue rice trio, the recipe that immediately comes to mind is the Camargue salad. Made with long-grain rice, it includes vegetables, tuna, and anchovies, all seasoned with a flavorful dressing. This salad can also be used as a stuffing for a summer presentation in peppers or tomatoes.
